Dubai, United Arab Emirates

A renewed drive by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to support the Emiratisation programme in UAE, will be a top priority at Careers UAE 2010 exhibition, taking place in Dubai next month.

Careers UAE 2010, the largest recruitment, training and education event exclusively for UAE Nationals, is set to open from 28 - 30 March 2010 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC) in conjunction with TANMIA, Emirates Nationals Development Programme (ENDP), Higher Colleges of Technology, Zayed University and UAE University.

Held under the Patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the event will bring together the nation's top local and international recruiters with thousands of job seekers. Set under one roof, the event will play a key role in the government's efforts to increase the number of UAE Nationals working in the private sector.

A new 'Jobs Index' study conducted by job site Bayt.com in conjunction with research specialists YouGov Siraj, showed that more than half of the employers in the MENA region are planning to recruit over the next few months.

"As companies align their HR strategies to capitalise on the global economic upturn, Careers UAE 2010 is more relevant than ever to ensuring the Emiratisation programme remains a priority for companies in both the private and public sectors," said Helal Saeed Almarri, CEO, Dubai World Trade Centre, the show's organiser.

H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum confirmed that Emiratisation is a priority in the UAE Federal Government Strategy and said he hoped that one day he would find UAE nationals in all top positions acting as key drivers of economic development. It is believed that Careers UAE 2010 will go some way towards reaching this vision.

All participating companies will be segmented into 10 sectors so visitors find searching for the appropriate job an easy task. The new sectors are Banking; Financial; Government, Semi-government and Private; Ministries; Oil & Gas; Telecommunication; Trade Commerce Groups; Training & HR; Transportation and Universities & Recruitment.

This year, the event welcomes 20 new companies, including Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club, Gulf Energy Maritime and National Rehabilitation Centre, and more than 60 returning companies including Al Futtaim Group, DEWA, Emirates Aluminium (EMAL), Emirates Group and Etisalat from UAE, as well as Air Liquide from Lebanon and BNP Paribas from Bahrain.

H.E. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, DEWA's Managing Director and CEO said: "DEWA is keen to follow the directions of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Rule of Dubai, to invest in the training and qualifying of Emirati human capital."

"Young Emirati nationals are well prepared for the future responsibilities of the country and Careers UAE 2010 is a key platform for UAE governmental corporations to exclusively reach to this wide and promising national audience," he added.

ENDP recently announced that 1,859 nationals found new employment in the UAE in 2009 despite the global economic crisis. Abdul Rahman Al Ghurair, Vice-Chairman of ENDP's Board of Trustees, said the employment figures had exceeded all expectations.

Zuhair Al Haj, Senior General Manager, Group Administration Services, Al Futtaim group, said: "The diverse structure of Al Futtaim group ensures a strong business and competitive working environment. This benefits employees by providing a clearly defined work culture, where UAE individuals are empowered with authority and responsibility for their work. As part of our expansion plans, we will be utilising Careers UAE 2010, as the most important week of the year for recruitment, to meet with many highly capable candidates."
